Sunflower cake is a by-product obtained in the process of making sunflower oil, it is the remnants of the nucleoli of the seed.
Sunflower cake is mainly used for the manufacture of animal feed. The nutritional value of the obtained products directly depends on the crude fat contained in the cake - up to 15% and up to 38% of crude protein. The oil contained in sunflower cake has high technical characteristics. It contains valuable phospholipids and its oxidizability indicators are much lower than that of feed oils.
Sunflower cake can be produced in granular form, in pressed form, or in friable form.
The high energy value of sunflower cake is due to the presence of a large amount of oil in its composition - about 7-10%.
