Description of Australia Standard Power Cable Size
Single core and multi-core cables with copper of aluminium conductors XLPE insulated, armoured and PVC sheathed
Cables are rated 0.6 / 1kV and conform to IEC 60502. (Refer to tables 6.6, 6.7, 6.8, 6.9 and 6.10)
Construction of Australia Standard Power Cable Size
Conductor
Plain circular or sector stranded copper or aluminium conductors, conform to IEC 228 class 2.
Insulation
XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) rated 90°C.
Color for core identification
Single core - red
Two core - red & black
Three core - red, yellow and blue
Four core - red, yellow, blue and black
Assembly
Two, three or four insulated conductor are laid up together, if necessary filled with non-hygroscopic
material compatible with the insulation and covered with the layer of PVC bedding which may be an
integral part of the filling.
Armoured
Galvanized steel wires applied over the PVC bedding.
Sheath
PVC type ST2 to IEC 60502 color black.
Application of Australia Standard Power Cable Size
These cables are most suitable for underground burial where there is a risk of mechanical damage.
