Product Application
(1) Used in electric arc steelmaking furnace
Electric furnace steelmaking is a major user of graphite electrodes. The output of EAF steel in China accounts for about 18% of the output of crude steel, and graphite electrodes for steelmaking account for 70%-80% of the total amount of graphite electrodes. Electric furnace steelmaking is to use graphite electrode to introduce current into the furnace, and use the high temperature heat source produced by arc between the end of the electrode and the charge to smelt.
(2) Used in Mineral Thermal Furnace
Mineral thermal furnace is mainly used to produce industrial silicon and yellow phosphorus. Its characteristics are that the lower part of conductive electrode is buried in the burden, forming an arc in the burden layer, and heating the burden with the heat energy generated by the resistance of the burden itself. Among them, graphite electrodes are required for the mine thermal furnace with high current density, such as graphite electrodes consuming about 100 kg per ton of silicon production and graphite for every ton of yellow phosphorus production. The electrode is about 40 kg.
(3) For resistance furnaces
Graphite furnaces for graphite products, glass melting furnaces and electric furnaces for silicon carbide production are all resistance furnaces. The materials in the furnaces are both heat resistors and heated objects. Usually, the conductive graphite electrodes are embedded in the furnace head wall at the end of the resistance furnace, where the graphite electrodes are used for discontinuous consumption.
(4) Used to prepare special-shaped graphite products
Graphite electrode blanks are also used to process various kinds of special-shaped graphite products such as crucibles, moulds, boats and heaters. For example, in the quartz glass industry, 10 tons of graphite electrode blanks are needed for every 1 ton of fused tube production, and 100 kg of graphite electrode blanks are consumed for every 1 ton of quartz brick production.
