Yellow Beeswax: Yellow beeswax is a natural wax taken from melting the walls of the honeycomb made by the honey bee by either draining and filtering or centrifuging. The wax is then melted with steam or hot water and activated carbon and/or diatomaceous earth, and aluminum or magnesium silicates can be added to extract impurities to refine the wax.
White Beeswax: White beeswax is obtained from the honeycomb in the same way as yellow beeswax, however it’s then bleached for a more, pure white/clear type color. Mmm. Bleach. Tasty, eh? The bleaching process is done by using peroxides, sunlight (the best way), or bleaching earth. When beeswax is bleached with peroxides, activated carbon is added to remove peroxo chemicals from the beeswax.

Beeswax is widely use in cosmetics and skin care due to its natural properties which makes it perfect for a wide range of dermatological based products. Being hypo-allergenic, beeswax is also suitable for anyone suffering from skin conditions like eczema and dermatitis. It also inhibits the growth of bacteria along with anti-inflammatory properties which help to sooth and relieve skin irritations.
Natural beeswax also assists in maintaining youthful looking skin by blocking environmental contaminates such as pollution which are a known factor in causing premature skin ageing. Rich in vitamin A, beeswax also promotes cell rejuvenation, re-hydration and locks in moisture without blocking the skin pores.
Rough, dry skin are the main beneficiaries when beeswax is combined with skin care products. The beeswax acts as an emollient and humectant, which draws moisture to the skin and sealing it in. Beeswax also contains vitamin A, which is beneficial in softening and rehydrating dry skin while rejuvenating skin cells. Beeswax also helps to maintain your skin’s purity and fight contamination, acting as a protective, breathable layer on the skin’s surface to keep your skin soft, supple and hydrated.
