Why Oak?

Oak improves with age like a good red wine. If you were to look at some 200-year-old reclaimed Oak, you would not doubt this. Even within a couple of years, the colour will get richer, andif you look after your floor, it will just get better and better.

Because of its popularity and abundance, Oak has been made available in an astonishing array of styles, grades and dimensions, giving the consumer the opportunity to almost certainly find the look they are after.

Above all other woods, Oak takes very well to staining and colouring, therefore, adding to the already vast choice available. It is available in shades from limed white to natural colour to very dark, and from a contemporary clean-cut look to an old antique appearance.

Oak is remarkably resistant to fungal and insect attacks. What this means for you is less money spent on repairs and damage to your floors.

Oak flooring is easy to maintain compared to carpets. A simple brush, light vacuuming and regular refreshment with a suitable floor cleaner will keep your oak floor on top for many years to come. There is also a lower risk of allergies, as wood floors are more hygienic than carpets.

Oak flooring is popular with an underfloor heating system, which is considered the most efficient way to heat your home. The soft, consistent heat of the underfloor heating system will complement the oak flooring and add to its already warm character.

Tips and recommendations for parquet installation and maintenance:

• All parquet should be stored and kept in a closed, dry space.
  


• Parquet should not be stored directly on a cement floor or exposed to the sun.
  


• The recommended temperatures for storing parquet products are between 18-20 C (not in spaces too hot or too cold and never in outdoor spaces).
  


• The moisture in the parquet is between 7-11%.
  


• Before and after installing the parquet, relative indoor humidity should be between 50-60% (in winter time, air must be moistened because of heating and dried in the summer time with an air conditioner).
  


• All painting work must be done and the walls completely dried.
  


• Do not open parquet packages until you are completely ready to begin installing. Open and install parquet package by package.
  


• If the thickness of the finishing glaze of the cement is up to 4 cm maximum, the sub-flooring moisture should not be more than 2%. It is recommended to use an appropriate adhesive for those conditions.
  


• Leave installed and un-sanded parquet for 5-10 days to "accommodate" and adjust to space, and then begin with the finishing treatments: sanding, smoothing and polishing.
  


• Maintain the floor with a dry or moistened cloth and with the appropriate cleaning fluids.
  


• Be careful of potential physical damages (legsoftables and chairs, smallrocksorpebbles...).
  


• Parquet should not be exposed directly to sunlight.
