Black pepper is a flowering vine in the family Piperaceae, cultivated for its fruit, known as a peppercorn, which is usually dried and used as a spice and seasoning. Seared Black Pepper-Crusted Ahi Tuna Steaks




1.In a small bowl, combine the salt, coriander, paprika, and cayenne pepper.

2.Lay the tuna steaks out on a plate, and sprinkle the spice mixture evenly on both sides.

3.Then coat the tuna on both sides with the black pepper, and gently press it in so that it adheres to the surface, being careful not to smash the flesh.

4.Place a thick-bottomed frying pan, or cast-iron skillet, over medium-high heat, until very hot.

5.Add the oil, and sear the tuna steaks for about 2 minutes per side, or until desired doneness is reached.
