It is the second most commercially grown coffee in the world. Up to 39% of coffee products are produced from Robusta coffee.
The characteristic of Robusta coffee beans is that they have round shaped berries, often smaller than other types of coffee. The caffeine content in Robusta coffee beans accounts for 3% to 4%.






This is also one of the factors that make Robusta resistant to pests and diseases and thrive even in harsh environments. Because pests often do not like bitterness, this is considered an antibacterial property of Robusta coffee.
The origins of Robusta coffee lie in Africa in the 1800s in sub-Saharan regions such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo (then Belgian Congo) and Uganda. Today it is still grown in Africa as well as Asia, but production is particularly high in Vietnam.
