What is HDPE Plastic?
HDPE (full name is High-density polyethylene) or PEHD (full name is polyethylene high-density): is a thermoplastic material with high density. HDPE is known for its large strength-to-density ratio (strength/density ~0.95g/cm3). Although the density of HDPE material is only higher than that of low-density polyethylene, because HDPE has little branching, HDPE pipes have very strong intermolecular forces. Therefore, HDPE pipes have a higher tensile strength than pipes made from LDPE (Low-density polyethylene) - a low-density thermoplastic material.
