ORGANIC RED WINE Nero d'avola Sicilia DOC Corte Ibla Giuseppe Verdi Selection Bio & Vegan
The colour is an intense purple-red. Corte Ibla Nero d’Avola has a bouquet of wild berries, blackcurrants and spices. On the palate it is full-bodied, with supple, soft tannins and a long finish.
Best served at room temperature with cured meats and cheeses, or pasta dishes with tomato-based sauces.

Harvest:
The grapes are checked very carefully every day and are picked meticulously by hand only when perfectly ripe at the end of September. Picking takes place only in the cool early hours of the morning to avoid over-heating and ensure that the grapes arrive at the winery in top condition. The grapes are placed into small containers so that they do not become crushed by their own weight.

Vinification:
The grapes are de-stemmed and very gently pressed to avoid any damage to the skins. The must is fermented at a controlled temperature of between 24- 26°C, with frequent remontages and delestages. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in oak barriques.

Ageing:
The wine is aged for at least 6 months in oak barriques.

CORTE IBLA 1697 - Organic & Vegan Friendly - SICILIAN ESTATE back to 1967
CORTE IBLA comes from Vittoria, tucked away in the South Eastern corner of the beautiful Mediterranean island of Sicily. Sicily is famous for many things: Mount Etna, Syracuse, the sun, stunning beaches, crystal clear waters. “Ibla”comes from the “Hyblaean Mountains”, or “Monti Iblei” in Italian. ‘Corte’ refers to a courtyard, from which you have a spectacular view of the “Ibla” mountains.
The estate where we grow the grapes for CORTE IBLA is traceable back to 1697 and we have the original plan of how the vineyards and winery were set out back in the seventeenth century.
Dominated by the mighty Mount Etna, Sicily boasts a unique landscape and is one of the Mediterranean’s largest islands. Sicily can trace its history back to ancient civilisations, with several world heritage sites such as Syracuse and Agrigento helping to tell the story.
Sicily’s ideal climate not only preserves the ancient monuments, but also makes the island the ideal place to cultivate a huge range of crops from vegetables to grapes. Wine has always played a major and integral part both in Sicily’s past and its present.

Our aim in the production of Corte Ibla is to preserve the land for which we are responsible, and to leave as little impact on the planet as possible. In Vittoria we have the perfect micro- climate in which to achieve these aims since the grapes are grown in ideal soil, with the regular sea breezes keeping them disease-free in order to mature perfectly.

TERROIR Terra Rossa
Vittoria has often been called a “winemaker’s paradise”, with its “terra rossa”, or red soil, undulating vineyard slopes, abundant sunshine. The “terra rossa” is a very special soil, typical of the region, whose characteristics help shape our wines: it is fertile, rich in iron, with a layer of limestone underneath.

VITICULTURE
Where any intervention is necessary, we have natural solutions such as the favino bean that grows on the estate and is
used as a completely natural fertilizer

Just as innovation is an important part of our winemaking philosophy, so is respect for the past and we pride ourselves in
preserving the traditions of the estate.
