Shengyi, originally named Lishan Fabrics, was born in Taiwan’s leading textile wholesale hub Yongle Market in 1979. It has specialized in customizing long pile faux fur fabrics for its clients. In 1987, the company expanded its business to import and export fabrics of long pile faux fur. It then changed its name to Shengyi Fibers Co. Ltd. To meet with the constantly changing demands of textile markets and technologies, Shengyi has developed a variety of functional fabrics of its own.
Shengyi has a history of specialization in fabrics that are designed to trap warmth. Facing the challenges brought by urban heat island effect, Shengyi has developed a hybrid fabric that combines moisture-absorbing fibers with 3D breathable synthetic fabrics to form a growing base for living green walls. Shengyi has obtained a patent（Patent no. I620498）for this invention and marketed it as BSL Cloth. This synthetic fabric enables flowers and plants to strive as green walls in a city's concrete jungles, mimicking green natures here and there in small streets and lanes. It helps to purify air, cool down urban heat and thus reduce the electricity usage on hot days.
