Description :
Motor for Crane and Hoists :
- Crane duty motors are not limited to cranes and hoists, but can also be used in applications where frequent switching is required.
- Crane duty motors are specially used for frequent start, stop & reversing required in cranes & lifts of all types. They can also be used for similar applications such as material handling equipments, weirs & sluices.
- These motors can be serving as auxiliary motors in rolling mills or wherever intermittent drives are required.
- These are duty type rated motors developing high starting torque with low starting current.
- Rapid acceleration is achieved by high pull out torque / rotor inertia ratio.
- These motors can be used for inverter applications as well.
- Crane duty motors are also available with flameproof enclosures.

Construction :
- Crane duty motors’ housings & end shields are made from high quality castings as per IS 210. All components are machined to correct accuracy & alignment.
- The stampings are made from low loss high permeability steel.
- Standard location of terminal box is on top. Terminal box on right or left side can be provided. The terminal box can be rotated in steps of 90° in each position. Motors up to 250 frames have aluminium boxes (Cast iron terminal boxes can be provided on request) and frames 280 & 315 are with cast iron terminal boxes.
- All motors are wound with super enameled dual coat copper wires.
- Two earthling terminals are provided, one in the terminal box & other on the motor body.
- To avoid moisture accumulation inside the motor, the motor windings can be heated by connecting 4-10% of rated voltage to the motor terminals.
- Motors with integral brakes can be provided
