Syzygium aromaticum is a plant belonging to the Myrtaceae family, originally from the Moluccas but introduced by man also in the Antilles, Madagascar and Indonesia. It was introduced to the island of Réunion by Pierre Poivre and from there, it was transferred to other colonies to be cultivated.
