This product is the result of a passionate collaboration between Takahisa Koda, a world-renowned judge of domestic and international cocktail contests, and several local Hita companies, including the local sake brewery, Oimatsu Shuzo.
This Rien Sparkling was produced to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the launch of the Japanese pear liqueur Rien, and was sold on a trial basis only in the Hita area, where it proved to be very popular.
It is made from 100% pears grown in Hita, and you can enjoy the taste of the pears themselves in a light sparkling wine.

The pears used in Rien are "Niitaka" and "Hosui," both grown with great care by pear farmers in Hita City, Oita Prefecture. The pears of Hita are nurtured by the rich nature and rapid temperature changes. It has fresh and crunchy flesh, elegant sweetness, and moderate sourness.
In order to bring out the freshness and original flavor of the pears, time and effort are spared, and the process is incredibly labor intensive compared to normal pressing.
To create the best Rien, they spent three and a half years finding the ideal balance of fresh pear flavor and beautiful color.

"Oimatsu" means a old pine tree. The founder started brewing sake because the clean water coming from the spring of the Oimatsu Shrine, where there are old pine trees, was suitable for brewing sake.
Surrounded by the beautiful mountains of the Kyushu mountain range, near the border between Oita and Fukuoka prefectures, Hita was once a imperial demesne of the Edo shogunate. As a result, the burden of annual tribute was light, and the region is known as the Little Kyoto of Kyushu, where a unique and rich culture and industry grew up.
