Matcha is a type of green tea.It refers to tencha tea leaves that have been ground into fine powder,as well as the beverage brewed by adding hot water to this powder and stirring.Not only is it consumed as a beverage during Japanese tea ceremonies,it is used widely as an ingredient in Japanese confectionery, Western confectionery,and other types of cooking.Each type of tea is given a brand name,such as Hatsu Mukashi,Ato Mukashi,Chiyo Mukashi,Aoi no Shiro,and Seikaihaku.

This is a chaen in Uji,Kyoto that has won the Minister of Agriculture,Forestry,and Fisheries Award at the National Tea Competition.Marukyu Koyamaen got its start when the founder Kyujiro Koyama started cultivating and manufacturing tea in his home of Ogura,Uji,which is suited for tea.
Since then,we have focused our efforts on the traditions of Uji tea and quality improvement from generation to generation and also began to sell tea starting with the 4th generation.The 8th generation Motojiro subsequently expanded sales channels to cover all of Japan in the Meiji era.
