MADE IN VIETNAM
The pressed fiber liner, more commonly known as the "Hawley" liner, was the first internal suspension system for the M1 helmet. Originally made from a rigid cardboard, these liners were issued en mass untill 1943 when they were phased out in favour of more durable constructions of the design. Despite large scale replacement by newer fiberglass liners, period photographs show Hawley Product Company and General Fiber-made liners being used until the end of the war in places like Normandy, Monte Cassino, and Iwo Jima.
Constructed entirely out of fabric-covered pith, these replicas are some of the closest offerings on the market to the real thing at a fraction of the cost. Unlike originals, however, these liner shells are water-resistant for safe use in the field. A distinctive must-have for any early war U.S. impression
