2,2-bis(hydroxymethyl)-1,3propanediol. The chemical formula is C5H12O4, which belongs to polyol organic compounds. Pentaerythritol
is a white powder crystal, odorless, slightly sweet, non-hygroscopic, stable in the air and almost non-volatile. It is heated to
260 °C for polymerization, and heated under reduced pressure for sublimation. Slightly soluble in cold water, easily soluble in
hot water, extremely insoluble in alcohol, insoluble in organic solvents such as ether, butanone, and acetic acid.
