Allen & Heath's SQ-6 is a powerful digital mixer driven by their 96KHz XCVI FPGA processing engine. The mixer delivers high-resolution, low latency audio performance at 96KHz sample rates.

The SQ-6 has 24 x motorised faders, plus 1 x dedicated motorised master fader. 24 x mic preamps are included on-board and 24 x XLR inputs are fitted on the rear panel. Total input mixing capability for this mixer is 48 x channels. Extra inputs can be added by using Allen & Heath DX168 expanders ( 96KHz sample rate compatible ) or AR84, AB168 or AR2412 stageboxes ( these are limited to using 48KHz sample rates ).

Like its smaller sibling the SQ-5, the SQ-6 is very well suited to producing stereo IEM monitor mixes. Upto 12 x unique stereo IEM mixes can be generated.

Unlike the smaller QU Series mixers, the SQ-6 has an expansion socket on the rear panel, which enables I/O cards, such as Allen & Heath's optional M-DANTE card to be fitted. This enables use of SQ mixers for digital front-of-house / monitor splits or networking with other Dante enabled devices.

The mixer includes the SQ-DRIVE feature, which allows a 96KHz multitrack audio recording to be saved to a USB memory drive, without the need for any addtional hardware.

An Automatic Mic Mixer is scheduled to be added to SQ-6 in early in 2018, which will make this mixer particularly suitable for conference sound applications, allowing top table mics can be auto-mixed during a panel discussion.

The mixer has designed to be very strong, for durable use on the road, with an alll metal chasis, yet despite this weight is only 13.3KG. The mixer is compact too, considering its capabilities with dimensions of only 638mm(w) x 515(d) x 198(h).

Like all Allen & Heath products, the SQ mixer has been designed to offer a user-friendly experience. The clear layout of the controls and clever use of backlighting and colour help the operator to make adjustments fast, even in subdued lighting or when working under pressure. The high-resolution 7 inch touch-screen is used with an array of illuminated encoders to ensure the fastest possible work-flow.

SQ has 8 x stereo effects engines, using emulations which can rival the best plug-ins. These include reverbs, gated reverbs, delays, modulators and much more.

SQ-6 can be used with Allen & Heath's ME-1 and ME-500 personal IEM mixers, which can be connected directly to the mixer or connected expander.
