Glycerol, also known as glycerin, has a chemical formula of C3H8O3, colorless, odorless and sweet. It has a clear and viscous liquid appearance. It is an organic substance that can absorb moisture from the air, as well as hydrogen sulfide, hydrogen cyanide and sulfur dioxide. It is hardly soluble in benzene, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, carbon disulfide, petroleum ether and oils. It is the skeleton component of triglyceride molecules.
