Product Description




Cabbage, including several cultivars in the family Brassica oleracea, is a biennial plant with green, red (purple) or white (light green) leaves grown as an annual vegetable because thick leaves at the top. It is derived from the wild cabbage plant (B. oleracea var. Oleracea), and belongs to the "cole" or cabbage plant, which means it is closely related to broccoli and cauliflower (var. Botrytis). ; Brussels sprouts (var. Gemmifera); and Savoy cabbage (var. sabauda).
One cabbage typically weighs between 500 and 1,000 grams (1 to 2 lb). Smooth, firm-leaved broccoli is the most common, with smooth-leaved bok choy and wrinkled bok choy of both colors rarer. In conditions with long sunny days, such as in the high northern latitudes in summer, cabbage can grow quite large.
