TECHNICAL INFORMATION

KTISOPLAST can be used for a number of application. Some of the most common  applications of KTISOPLAST are:

• As a bonding layer between old and new concrete or cement mortar


• Waterproofing cement mortars


• As a primer for when preparing to paint or coat surfaces


• For strengthening wall plasters and waterproofing them

Ktisoplast’s key features are:

SURFACE PREPARATION

Thorough surface preparation is critical in order to ensure maximum adhesion and optimal results. The surface must be completely dry, free of loose material, dust, mould, oils, greases etc. If there are oils or other chemical materials they must be removed either by grinding or by using special cleaning detergent.

All cement- or concrete based surfaces must be suitably dampened before the application of new mortars.

EXAMPLES OF APPLICATIONS

Horizontal Bonding Layer between old and new layer

The surface should be brushed with a slurry of thickness of approximately 2-3 mm. An indicative mortar should contain the following ingredients:

50kg Cement

50kg Sand

12kg Water

12kg KTISOPLAST

 

The new layer should be applied within 15-30 minutes after the application of the intermediate bonding layer.

Cement Repair Mortar

The mortar should be prepared with:

50kg Cement

150kg Sand

20kg Water

10kg KTISOPLAST

 

Such a solution would be suitable when using cement mortars to fill holes, cracks, to make steps or slopes etc.)

 

 

 

 

Waterproofing slurry

 

When using cement-based waterproofing slurry, for waterproofing basements, rooftops etc use :

 

25kg Cement slurry

7kg Water

2kg KTISOPLAST

Wall plaster

The plaster should be prepared with:

50kg Cement

150kg Marble Sand

20kg Water

8kg KTISOPLAST

 

Such a solution waterproofs the plaster and increases elasticity thus reducing the risks from cracks.

Primer

KTISOPLAST can used as a primer for surfaces to be coated with paint or waterproof coatings. KTISOPLAST should be diluted with water at a ratio of 1:1 to 1:2.
