Palygorskite,the ideal chemical compositions:Mg5SIi8O20(OH)2(H2O4).nH2o,SiO256.96%,MgO 23.83%H2O 19.21%,it often contains Al and Fe,Al2O3 replaces part of MgO.

Palygorskite crystalline takes the shape of hair or fibre and long column and needle shape with white,grey,light green and light brown colors under the electric fiberscope.Hardness is 2-3,when the temperature reaches 700-800 °c ,the hardness increases to 5,Density is 2.05-2.32 g/cm3,the direction of parallel fibre axis has good cleavage and also large specific surface area and absorbability and good rheological behaviour and catalysisability,meanwhile,it is a rare mineral with ideal colloidal and heat-resistant abilities,It is free of asbestos.
