Galvalume (GL) ideally combines characteristics of aluminum coated steel and galvanized steel.

 

It consists of aluminum (55% in weight ratio but 80% in surface volume ratio), zinc (43.4% in weight)

and silicon (1.6% in weight ratio) so it has both aluminum-unique corrosion-resistance and heat resistance

and zinc-unique “galvanic behavior

Galvalume steel is an ideal roofing material because of its strength, extraordinary outdoor corrosion resistance and longevity. Galvalume and Color Galvalume are produced by coating steel with a special Aluminum-Zinc alloy that provides more than twice the corrosion resistance of galvanized steel. It delivers the optimum combination of the features of aluminum and zinc: the barrier protection and long-term durability of aluminum and the sacrificial or galvanic protection of sheared edges that is characteristic of zinc.

Durability - Humidity Test,  Salt Spray Test, Outdoor Exposure Test ( for 13 years).

 

 

Heat-Resistance – Heat-Resistance of Galvalume is far superior to that of galvanized, and

almost equal to characteristics of Al-coated steel.

 

Galvanized : Recommendable temperature ; 230°C & under, Discoloration at 250°C

Galvalume : No discoloration even for durable use at 315°C

 

Weldability - spot and seam welding test pass.

 

 

Workability - GL has the same characteristics with galvanized steel sheet in workability & formability, and

            especially, micro crack at forming section is much less than galvanized steel sheet.

            Therefore, GL has excellent durability at forming section.

 

Heat-Reflexibility - GL's heat reflexibility almost doubles that of galvanized steel so it has an energy

             saving effect. If it is used in roofing and paneling without painting

 

Paintability – Galvalume can be painted without pre-treatment or weathering when used for signboard or

general purpose, due to its superior adhesive strength between zinc layer and paint,

unlike galvanized steel which requires weathering or pre-treatment.
