Tissue paper pom poms are so popular at the moment for weddings, bridal showers and all kinds of celebrations. They are seriously pretty with their soft petal layers and flower shapes. Did you know you can easily make them yourself? We made some dip-dye versions just to add a little variety but the method is the same. In the picture above we made small pom poms for the dip dye, a large plain white and another large white pom pom that we dipped the petals in the left over colour and left to dry.

But, for those of you who like the look of the flower bombs and wish to recreate it without spending the extra dough, then we have the perfect DIY idea for you — paper flower bombs or pom poms.

They are incredibly inexpensive, super funky and also make a for a cute party or room decoration and because we’re simply the best we will even provide the super easy guide for you below. Enjoy!

Directions1. Unfold tissue paper and lay flat on a table. You can use up to 20 sheets of tissue paper at a time, or as many or as little as your scissors will be able to cut.

2. Make 2 to 3 centimetre accordion folds with the tissue paper and cut either end in half circles (like below) or triangles. Depending on how big or thick you want your pom poms to be, will determine how many sheets of tissue paper you fold.

3. Tie some floristry wire securely around the middle of the folded tissue paper. Be sure to leave enough length on the end to shape into a hook so it can be hung with string.

 

4. Start peeling back each layer of paper one by one and scrunching it as close to the centre as possible. Repeat on the opposite side. Once all layers have been peeled back you can arrange the pieces of paper as you see fit, creating a pom pom like circle.

 

5. If you are hanging your flower bombs/pom poms attach some string to the floristry wire and voila you’re done!
