FAQ

 5_11.jpg

1.When should I select CD replication or DVD replication?
Replication is the best solution when you have a project that requires 500 or more discs. It is the most cost effective process.
2.When is CD duplication or DVD duplication the best choice?
Disc duplication is ideal when you need a lower quantity. If you need further explanation of the benefits of either process,
please call one of our experts. We’re always glad to help!
3.What is the difference between silk-screen and offset for replicated CDs & DVDs?
Offset printing on discs is the highest quality and it is the Lybro Records standard. It is very much like offset in commercial
printing. It uses a 150 line screen which makes a smaller dot. The result is extraordinary detail and color accuracy.
Silk-screen has long been the standard printing method for replicated discs. It uses a 100 line screen, and prints a beautiful image. While silk-screen will almost always match your proof, there are limitations and your final product color may vary from your proof. Because the dot is larger, the resolution is coarser. Images, like photos, may have some loss of detail. Silk-screen is the only process to use for PMS color printing.

4.What is the difference between duplication and replication?
CD or DVD DUPLICATION is a process that starts with a CD or DVD Recordable. We then duplicate or “burn” the content from your supplied master onto the recordable discs. The next process is to print your artwork directly to the disc with our beautiful full-color printers. This process is ideal for short run orders or can also be the solution for larger runs needing 24-48 hours turn time. CD or DVD REPLICATION is the manufacturing process that manufactures your disc from raw materials. These are also referred to as “molded” or “pressed” discs. This is the process that uses a glass master and stamper. Because replication starts with raw materials, this process is the most cost-effective method for large orders. After the disc is replicated, it is then printed using full color offset directly to your disc or PMS colors silk-screened. A standard schedule for replication is 7-10 days for CDs and 12-15 days for DVDs.
5.How Are CDs Manufactured?
CDs are manufactured from an original master in mass quantities using a method called replication. At Lybro Records, we offer the highest quality professional CD manufacturing available.
First, we evaluate your original content master for media and format integrity. Then a glass master and a “stamper” are created and tested for quality to ensure bit-to-bit match conformism with your master. Next, your CDs are produced via an injection molding process to create each new compact disc. Bison Disc uses only the best raw materials on the best equipment by the best technicians. We insist on numerous stringent inspections, including an I.D. check to be certain that the correct content has the correct print. Then the print is Quality Control checked by scanner for any print imperfections. Every step is monitored and inspected, including: logging your job into production, glass mastering, disc molding,
printing (offset silk-screen), packaging and shipping.
6.How Are DVDs Manufactured?
DVDs are manufactured from an original master in mass quantities using a method called replication. At Lybro Records, we offer the highest quality professional DVD manufacturing available.
