BNGAS Ignition Electrode Materials

Kanthal A-1 Wire
Kanthal® A-1 is a ferritic iron-chromium-aluminum alloy (FeCrAl alloy) for use at temperatures up to 1400°C (2550°F). The alloy is
characterized by high resistivity and very good oxidation resistance.
Alumina (Al2O3) Ceramic
High purity alumina has a very high melting point of 2,072 °C, is extremely hard, and has good electrical insulation properties, high chemical resistance, and low thermal expansion properties.
Stainless Steel Bracket
The surface of the electrode bracket made of stainless steel can be well protected by passivation and polishing. Different types can meet the installation requirements of different structures.

Wire For Ignition Electrode
* Regular Wire: UL1332, UL1659, UL1911, UL3573, UL3071 etc.
* 200℃ Heat-resistant: UL1332, UL3071, UL3573
* 250℃ Heat-resistant: UL1659, UL1911
Ignition Electrode Terminal
* Fermale Terminal:110(0.5*2.8, 0.8*2.8), 87(0.5*4.74, 0.8*4.74), 250 (0.8*6.35), φ2.35mm
* Male Terminal: φ4mm, φ6.35mm
* Flat male: 0.8*4.74mm, 0.8*6.35mm

What is the Ignition Electrode?

BNGAS offers various types of ignition electrodes and flame sensor electrodes according to the client’s requests and drawings. They are mainly used in gas boilers, water heaters, stoves, grills, etc.

Ignition electrodes and ionization probes are produced from high-quality materials.
* The central electrode is generally made of a unique fireproof material, resistant to high temperature and electrochemical
corrosion (seen more in gas boilers and gas heaters)- Kanthal material.
* The outer insulator is made of alumina ceramic with high mechanical strength, heat resistance, high voltage resistance (usually 18kV), and high Al2O3 content.
* Some electrodes also have mounting brackets on ceramics, and we usually like to be made of 304 stainless steel, which gives the product a longer life.

They ignite gaseous fuels in gas burners and operate on the principle of high voltage flashover. The ignition electrode must be outside the flame. Only the central electrode is in the flame. The ignition electrode and ionization probes are usually used in combination in the combustion chamber of a gas-burning appliance (the ignition electrode can also be used as an ionization probe). However, the space between them needs to be designed by a professional engineer for you.

FAQ: Ignition Electrode –The Complete Guide

You can find most of the questions you want to know about ignition electrodes here.

Whether you want to learn about specifications or the electrode process – you will find all information right here.

Keep reading to learn more.

Q1: What is the Ignition Electrode?

BNGAS offers various types of ignition electrodes and flame sensor electrodes according to the client’s requests and drawings. They are mainly used in gas boilers, water heaters, stoves, grills, etc.

Ignition electrodes and ionization probes are produced from high-quality materials.

* The central electrode is generally made of a unique fireproof material, resistant to high temperature and electrochemical

Q2: What is the Flame Sensing

Flame sensing rods, also called flame rectifier rods, are usually found on modern hot surfaces and ISI (intermittent spark
ignition) gas equipment.

The flame sensing rod is inserted into the flame and connected to the control circuit board. Whenever the circuit board gives the command to open the gas valve, it monitors the current on the flame sensing rod. It generates a potential (voltage) at the terminals of the flame sensing rod connected to the sensor. A small microampere (µA) direct current (DC) is generated by forming a path between the rod and the ions in the flame only when the flame is present. Otherwise, there is only potential at the rod and no current. If the flame goes out and the small DC signal board does not sense this microampere (μA) DC for a few seconds, it will shut off the gas valve and tries again.

The flame sensor fails in the following cases:
1. they are short-circuited due to ceramic body rupture.
2. They do not open because they are broken.
3. They are not properly installed in the flame.
4. They have silica (glass) or carbon attached to their surface.

It could be a circuit board problem or a flame sensor problem. Every possible test needs to be done before replacing it. Many technicians advocate replacing the flame sensor if they suspect it is not conducting well. I don’t mind because BNGAS flame rods are cheap with good quality, and you can cover this cost for your customers.
In summary, the flame rod should be:

1. In the flame
2. Clean
3. Not open
4. Not short

Q3: Can I Find All The Boiler Electrodes Here?

You can purchase most of the popular brands of electrodes here. For example, Worcester, Ideal, BAXI, Beretta, and Vaillant.

Please send the inquiry to us, if we don’t have the model you need, we can make a prototype for you based on the sample you send
us.

Q4: What's the Minimum Order Quantity of the Electrode?

You can purchase most of the popular brands of electrodes here. For example, Worcester, Ideal, BAXI, Beretta, and Vaillant.

Please send the inquiry to us, if we don’t have the model you need, we can make a prototype for you based on the sample you send us.

Q5: What's the Delivery Time?

Our regular lead time is 30-90 working days, depending on our current order status.

Q6: Do You Charge A Mold Fee For The New Models?

Our regular lead time is 30-90 working days, depending on our current order status.

Q7: Does The Product For Which I Spend Money Belong To Me?

We will not sell to any other customer for one year from when you pay for the mould and produce the sample.

Strictly speaking, only the mould belongs to you. The product does not belong to you. Because we can’t only produce 1,000 or 2,000 pcs products and sell them to one customer.

But we can negotiate whether we need to make this to your exclusive product according to your purchase quantity after one year.

Q8: Can You Provide Gaskets And Screws?

Yes, we can. Please check with our sales.

Q9: How Do You Package My Ignition Electrodes?

See if you want a separate bag. Do you need bar code labels or custom LOGO bags?

We usually put independent products in small cartons, then pack them in large cartons, and eventually make pallets, which will be safer.
