The softening point of quartz glass is about 1730 ℃. It can be used at 1100 ℃ for a long time, and the maximum temperature can reach 1450 ℃ in a short time.
2.Good thermal stability
The coefficient of thermal expansion of quartz glass is very small, and it can withstand drastic temperature changes. When the quartz glass is heated to about 1100 ℃, it will not burst into normal temperature water.
3.Corrosion resistant.
In addition to hydrofluoric acid, quartz glass hardly reacts with other acids. Its acid resistance is 30 times that of ceramics and 150 times that of stainless steel, especially its chemical stability at high temperature, which is unmatched by any other engineering materials.
4.Good light transmittance
Quartz glass has good transmittance in the whole spectral band from ultraviolet to infrared. The visible light transmittance is more than 93%, especially in the ultraviolet spectral region, the maximum transmittance is more than 80.
Use and maintenance
Generally, it goes through four steps: soaking, brushing, pickling, and cleaning.
1. Soaking: new or used glassware shall be soaked with clean water to soften and dissolve attachments. New glassware must be simply brushed with tap water before use, and then soaked in 5% hydrochloric acid overnight; Used glassware often contains a large amount of protein and oil, which is not easy to brush off after drying, so it should be immersed in clean water immediately after use.
2. Brushing: put the soaked glassware into detergent water and brush repeatedly with a soft brush. Do not leave dead corners and prevent damage to the surface finish of the vessel. Wash and dry the cleaned glassware for pickling.
3. Pickling: pickling is to soak the above utensils in cleaning solution, also known as acid solution, and remove possible residual substances on the surface of utensils through the strong oxidation of acid solution. Pickling shall not be less than six hours, generally overnight or longer. Be careful when placing and taking utensils.
4. Washing: the utensils after brushing and pickling must be fully washed with water. Whether the utensils are washed clean after pickling directly affects the success or failure of cell culture. When manually washing the pickled utensils, each utensil shall be repeatedly "filled with water - emptied" for at least 15 times, and finally soaked with re distilled water for 2-3 times. After drying or drying, it shall be packed for standby.
