Germanium is an ideal material for IR applications with its broad transmission range and opacity in the visible portion of the spectrum. Germanium has a high index of refraction, making it a perfect choice for applications that require low dispersion. It is commonly used in IR imaging systems typically operating in the 2 µm to 12 µm spectral range, covers the LWIR (8-12μm) and MWIR (3-5μm) thermal imaging wavelength range.
VY Optics’ Optical Windows are offered in a variety of substrates, such as Germanium (Ge), Silicon (Si), N-BK7, UV Fused Silica, Zinc Selenide zinc sulfide(ZnSe), sapphire, color glass, (ZnS), Lithium niobium crystal (LiNbO3), Lithium tantalate(LiTaO3) or Potassium Bromide (KBr). Multiple anti-reflection coating options are available for the Ultraviolet (UV), visible, or Infrared (IR).
Besides, VY Optics can fabricate different shape of flat glass, dig the hole on the surface, produce step on it, and paint with color you need.
