Product Overview

Description

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Cold-applied plastic is a high-viscosity material supplied complete with a curing agent (hardener) and optionally with retroreflective glass beads. The plastic is designed for applying highly-durable thick-layer horizontal markings onto roadways (pedestrian crossing lines, guiding arrows and lines, intersection lines, stop lines, edge and central lines on highways and motorways).

APPLICATION

The plastic is applied using special marking equipment, by hand using a stencil, or with a hand screed box, depending on the line type (structured, profile, or solid).
Do not dilute plastics with water or organic solvents. Do not mix plastics of different brands. Apply plastics in dry weather onto a dry road surface that is free of dirt, dust, sand, and oil at a steady ambient temperature of min. +5 °C to max. +35 °C and max. 85% relative humidity. The actual consumption of plastics depends on the road surface condition, surface treatment, and application method.

FEATURES

B-AK-52-T Strela Cold-Applied Plastic (the plastic) is a material that is chemically cured in the presence of a curing agent and does not contain organic solvents. Horizontal markings made with the plastic are characterized by high wear resistance, good weather and UV resistance, good adhesion to asphalt concrete and cement concrete, as well as high day and night visibility.
Application: Stir mechanically in the storage container for 2-3 minutes before use until the plastic reaches an original uniform consistency. Hardener (curing agent) is introduced with simultaneous mechanized mixing immediately before use depending on the ambient temperature in an amount of 1.5 to 3.5% according to the table:

The approximate consumption is 5.0- 7.5 kg/m2 for solid marking, 3.5-5.0 kg/m2 for structural marking, and 7.0 -12.0 kg/m2 for profile marking depending on the profile relief. Glass bead consumption for retroreflective markings is 250 to 500 g/m2, until the desired coefficient of retroreflected luminance (RL) is achieved. The recommended glass bead size distribution is 400-800 μm,
surface treatment: adhesion and flotation coatings. Using moisture-proof treated glass beads with cold-applied plastics is not recommended. No-track time is 45 minutes.
