The DM165 mower is a two-drum mower. Each drum has three knives, which can be changed quickly with a simple tool. The hay cut by the knives is carried between the drums and put in a loosely laid swath. Three V-belts transmit power to the input gear shaft, then to the main drive shaft, which in turn drives the drums through the bevel gears.
A breakaway device is incorporated on this machine, which automatically operates when the mower hits an obstruction. This protects the drums from damage.
