What are LED Strip/Tape Lights?

Also known as LED Light Strips, Flexible LED Strips, or LED Strip Lights, LED tape is a flexible circuit board with integrated light emitting diodes (LEDs).

LED Tape lights are highly versatile in their use and applications. LED light strips can be mounted inside housings, channels, or guides called LED extrusions. The extrusion acts as the connector between the light source and the application area - maximizing the applications and uses available for LED light strips while also acting as a heatsink to prolong the life of the LED tape.

LED strips lights come in a variety of voltages, lengths, color temperatures, lumen outputs, quantities per foot, and beam angles. Some LED light strips are coated in gel, or silicone to achieve an IP 65 index rating making them suitable for outdoor use, resistant to moisture, dirt and debris.

Another important aspect of LEDs is their CRI value. The color rendering index (CRI) of a light source is a measurement of its ability to reproduce the colors of various objects faithfully in comparison with a natural light source and to show the object’s colors "realistically" or "naturally" compared to daylight.
