Hook and loop fastener is two lineal fabric strips which are attached to the opposing surfaces to be fastened,also can be sewn-on or adhered.Hook and loop consist of two components,one is the "tiny hook",the other is the "hairier loop",when the hook and loop are pressed together,the hooks catch in the loops and two fasten or bind temporarily.When separated,there will be a ripping sound by pulling or peeling the two strips apart.
The strength of the bond depends on how well the hooks are embedded in the loops, how much surface area is in contact with the hooks, and the nature of the force pulling it apart.
Hook and loop is easy to use, safe, and maintenance free. There is only a minimal decline in effectiveness even after many times fastening and unfastenings. The tearing noise it makes can also be useful against pickpockets while it is used in garments.
