This single component oil-based paint is mainly prepared by long and middle oil length alkyd resin and high-quality pigment. It features properties as: decorative look, durable protection, low cost, easy to apply, good resistance to chemical corrosion and rust.

Alkyd paint is mainly composed of alkyd resin. It is currently the most used type of paint. It has the advantages of low price, simple application, low requirements for the applying environment, full and hard coating film, good durability and weather resistance, and good decoration and protection. The disadvantage is that the coating film is not easy to meet higher requirements and is not suitable for high decorative occasions. Alkyd paint is mainly used for the coating of general woodware, furniture and home decoration, general metal decoration coating, metal anti-corrosion coating, general machinery, automobiles, instrumentation, industrial equipment, etc.

How does alkyd paint cure?

Alkyd paint is a solid paint film formed by the reaction of oxygen in the air and oil in the paint. The oxygen in the air first reacts with the surface paint film to form a solid paint film. So it takes longer for oxygen to enter the wet film below. The thicker the coating, the longer the time. Therefore, the single-pass wet film of alkyd enamel should not be too thick. Too thick will affect the volatilization of the solvent in the wet film below, resulting in solvent retention and blistering. It will also cause the wet film to not be cured well; if there is water mist or water on the surface of the coating before curing, which prevents the contact between oxygen and the coating, it will also prevent the normal curing of the coating.

APPLICATION METHODS

Spraying: airless spraying or air spraying. High pressure airless spraying is recommended. Attention should be paid to adjusting the viscosity and air pressure of the coating when spraying with air. The diluent should not exceed 10%, otherwise the coating performance will be affected.

Brush coating: it is recommended to be used in pre coating and small area coating, but it must reach the specified dry film thickness.

Caution: Over diluting would result in sag and run downs.
