A battery management system (BMS) is any electronic system that manages a rechargeable battery (cell or battery pack), such as by monitoring its state, calculating secondary data, reporting that data, protecting the battery, controlling its environment, and / or balancing it. A BMS may monitor the state of the battery as represented by various items, such as:
Voltage: total voltage, or voltages of individual cells
Temperature: average temperature, or temperatures of individual cells
State of charge (SOC) or depth of discharge (DOD): to indicate the charge level of the battery
State of health (SOH), a variously-defined measurement of the overall condition of the battery
Current: current in or out of the battery

How to connect
Host PC software
1. With communication toll EV2400 or EV2300
2. Connect the battery terminals of GND、SMBC、SMBD with data cable to the above tool interface GND、SMBC、SMBD,then connect The tool with USB data cable to PC (Note: do not connect P+ of the battery
when communicating with upper computer) as figure1
3.Open host computer software of TI “Battery Management Studio”
Note: The above three kinds of communication tools with SMBUS can not be used at the same time. If two of them are used at the same time, SMBUS communication might be interrupted resulting in the loss of data.
