Palm oil is the most abundant vegetable fat in the world today. This is due primarily to the interesting chemical and physical properties of palm oil, as well as the fact that palm oil is readily available and cheap.

In terms of composition, it has a high level of solid glycerides, which provides a favorable consistency without hydrogenation.

Palm oil is highly resistant to oxidation, which contributes to a longer shelf life.

 

Mainly, palm oil is used in the food industry. It is used in the preparation of waffles, biscuit rolls, cakes, creams, semi-finished products are fried on it. Palm oil is a part of processed cheese, condensed milk, combined oil, it is added to cottage cheese desserts and cottage cheese. Many modern recipes are not complete without palm oil. They also partially replace milk fat. In general, it is easier to list those foods that do not contain palm oil than those in which it is present.

 

In Europe, palm oil appeared only in the 18th century. The sailors brought it with them. The palatability of palm oil was highly appreciated by Europeans. It has found wide application in cooking, medicine, cosmetology.

 

Palm oil, which is not limited to the food industry, is also used to make candles and soaps. In cosmetology, it is usually used to care for dry and aging skin of the face, as it nourishes, softens and moisturizes the skin.

 

Palm oil is useful for certain diseases. For example, with vision problems: night blindness, blepharitis, glaucoma, conjunctivitis and others. Due to its medicinal properties, palm oil is recommended for the treatment of various diseases of the heart and blood vessels.

 

Palm oil is divided into three large groups:

1.   Stearin (used for technical purposes and in the oil and fat industry);

2.   Standard or classic (good for baking);

3.       Olein (great for frying).
