Shattered glass
The glass packaging is made of three natural ingredients: silica sand, soda ash, and limestone. These materials are mixed with recycled glass and are called "cullet". Broken glass is the main component of Jiatong glass bottles and containers. These four ingredients-sand, soda ash, limestone and recycled glass-together make up the batch mixture.
Furnace
The bulk mixture enters the furnace. The furnace is heated to 1500 degrees Celsius by gas and electricity to make molten glass. The cover furnace operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and can process hundreds of tons of glass a day. Jiatong Glass has multiple furnaces to support glass manufacturing.
Refiner
When the molten glass mixture comes out of the furnace, it flows into a refiner, which is essentially a covered insulated basin to contain heat. Here, the molten glass is cooled to about 1250 degrees Celsius.
Feeder
Then the molten glass enters the forehearth, and the temperature of the glass reaches a uniform level before entering the feeder. At the end of the feeder, scissors cut the molten glass into "drop shapes", and each drop shape will become a glass container.
Forming Machine
When each droplet falls into a series of molds, the final product begins to form in the molding machine. Compressed air is used to expand the material into a glass container. The glass continues to cool during this part of the manufacturing process and will reach approximately 700 degrees Celsius.
Annealing
After the forming machine, each glass bottle or can undergoes an annealing step. Annealing is required because the outside of the container cools faster than the inside. The annealing process reheats the container and then gradually cools to release heat and strengthen the glass. The glass container is heated to approximately 560 degrees Celsius and then slowly cooled to 150 degrees Celsius. Then the glass bottles and glass jars go to the external process area for external process processing.
