Longwave Infrared (LWIR) lens is generally used in thermal imaging system. It works on 8-12um or 8-14um wavelength range, and typically fits uncooled IR detector. Because all the objects over -273℃ would emit infrared radiation, thermal imaging system with infrared lens can detect the infrared radiation and form images of the objects from their energy intensity differences. The thermal imaging system can work without additional light source, which makes them particularly valuable in certain environments and applications.

Wavelength Infrared has a variety of LWIR infrared lens designs and on-shelf products. Fixed Focus infrared lens are the most common ones. They are normally formed with 2-3 piece of lens made of germanium or chalcogenide glass, hand manual, AR or DLC coating. They have simple structures that they have features such as easy to operate and maintain, compact size, high reliability, good shock and vibration resistance, low cost, etc.
Simply in structure does not mean simple in design and manufacture. All of our fixed focus infrared lenses are carefully designed to provide crisp image with low distortion and good relative illumination over the full area of image. They would go through MTF test, vibration test and thermal-shock test to ensure the best quality.
