Overview: Lithium tetraborate white crystal. Melting point is 930 ℃. Slightly soluble in water, insoluble in ethanol and other organic solvents. Usually pentahydrate. Lithium pentaborate (Li2B10O16) is a white powder, usually octahydrate, with a relative density of 1.72. It loses all water of crystallization at 300 -- 350℃. Can be made from lithium hydroxide and boric acid melting reaction together. Used as porcelain glaze.
USES:
1. Used for metal smelting, enamel manufacturing and X-ray fluorescence analysis, etc
2. Used as buffer and preservative
3. Reagents that decompose oxides and silicates by melting.
