THE BEGINNING
OUR HISTORY
The history of our firm starts from the passion of a womanwhose name is Maria.
We are in the area near Conegliano (in Veneto region) in 40s, she is still a child of 9 years old. Her sister worked with a little sewing machine to produce socks and gloves for militaries, and at the same time Maria observed with attention the scene, and these gestures have on her an irresistible appeal. Her back and forth moves resulted in the creation of little marvels. Then, with an evident enthusiasm, she asked to her sister to learn how to do it. In a little time, she started to realize her first little
masterpieces, she learnt secrets, cables and cut-works. But she was not satisfied enough, she persisted, she learnt more and more and she has been being taken on as an apprentice for some years in a professional knitter’s shop.
It was the time of the world war, people worked on militaries’ uniforms and needs, but she did not abandon her dream.
When the Second World War ended, she married and had 4 children, while she was the products’ lines’ head in a knitting workroom keeping on following her dream. Then, she started a new adventure with Luigi, her husband, moving to the area near Venice, where she could personally produce for many other customers.
This is the way in which our company was born. The first seat was in the old spinning mill of the town. Maria brought with her some women to teach them how to work and at the same time give them a job, the sewing machines were as many as the working women were. In 60s years, the passage from the manual sewing machines to the industrial production was ready in the middle of the
Italian economic boom. The company was enlarging, but it was maintaining its high quality and handmade print which marked out it, now they realized the complete production cycle, weaving, washes, ironing, cut and packaging. The work and the production were increasing with Maria’s family, who had her last son, Massimo: he is now the follower of her dream. In the following years they
produced for many important fashion firms and brands, collaborating for many years. But the time is continuously changing, many important companies and brands transfer their production in countries different from Italy and the company has to re-invent itself.
Strengthened by the experience and thinking about an old family brand, Massimo and his wife Marina started a new adventure, a new products’ line for home in which they selected only the high quality yarns, they searched suitable raw materials, they created new models.
Moreover, an accurate restyling of the old family brand, translated in a more captivating style, recall us our origins with the typical “gondola” image and its “gondoliere” with Venice in the background, which indicate our navigation through new seas to follow an old dream, exactly like many years ago.
They also looked at the future with fine fashion accessories proposed in a wide range of colors following the world fashion trends. Simple and elegant models, realized with yarns exclusively from Italian weavings which guarantee us an adequate high quality.
