Timascus Sheet and Rodr are composed of two titanium alloys (currently CP and 6AL4V), Timascus is corrosion resistant, non-magnetic and lightweight. It has the beautiful, premium look of steel Damascus without anything that might disappoint some knife makers and collectors the disadvantages of steel.
The rtimascus is made by placing these two different titanium alloys in a metal box, filling the outer shell with inert gas and applying heat and pressure to forge the two alloys together.
In terms of coloration, the current formulation seems to show more contrast using heating rather than anodizing. All current safe coloring techniques can be applied to Timascus. Future alloy combinations will have different color characteristics. (This just means foknife furniture, since titanium doesn't form carbides and doesn't harden enough foa sound blades.)
rworking Timascus is basically the same as any thethetitanium alloy except when milling. Mixed types of titanium have different hardnesses that are clamped throughout the bar. Different hard and soft areas cause tool cutting edge wear. Use radiused cutters , because they can support better machining.
