Cadmium is one silver-white glossy metal with ductility and toughness , melting point is 320.9℃, density is 8650kg/m3. Cadmium is oxidized slowly in the humid air and lose the metal luster, when heated, formed into brown oxidation layer of the surface, if heated to the boiling point, CdO smog is formed. Cadmium reacts with halogen strongly into the Halogenated cadmium, directly reacts with sulfur for CdS. Cadium dissolves in acid not alkali. The oxidized form of Cadmium is +1, +2. The solubility of CdO and Cd(OH)2 is small, dissolving in the acid not alkali.
