What is Arbutin Powder?
Arbutin, also known as arbutin, with the chemical formula of C12H16O7, is an ingredient extracted from the leaves of Rhododendron, which can prevent the formation of melanin by inhibiting the activity of tyrosinase in the body. It is mainly used in cosmetics.
Alpha-arbutin and deoxyarbutin are synthetic forms of arbutin, while beta-arbutin is the plant-derived form of arbutin. Both forms of arbutin suppress melanin production, but studies have shown that alpha-arbutin is more stable and is estimated to be more than 10 times stronger than beta-arbutin.
