Brief introduction of Lanthanum(III) Chloride LaCl3 CAS 10099-58-8
Lanthanum(III) Chloride
Chemical formula Lanthanum chloride LaCl3. The molecular weight is 245.27. White crystal. Easy deliquescence. Melting point 860℃,
boiling point higher than 1000℃, relative density 3.84225. Highly soluble in water (decomposition in hot water), ethanol and
pyridine, insoluble in ether and benzene. Easy to form double salt with basic hydroxide . Lanthanum iodide is formed when heated with dry hydrogen iodide at its melting temperature. When it is mixed with sodium pyrophosphate solution, lanthanum hydrogen pyrophosphate is precipitated. This precipitate dissolves when stirred, but after a few days crystallizes into small, round, white spheres (trihydrate).
