Pig iron is an iron-carbon alloy with a carbon content of more than 2%. Industrial pig iron generally has a carbon content of 2.5%-4% and contains C, SI, Mn, S, P and other elements. It is the product of iron ore smelting by blast furnace. According to the different forms of carbon in pig iron, it can be divided into steel-making pig iron, casting pig iron and nodular cast iron.
The precipitated graphite is spherical cast iron. The spherical graphite has less cleavage effect on the metal matrix than sheet graphite, which makes the strength of cast iron reach 70~90% of the matrix structure strength, tensile strength up to 120kGF /mm2, and has good toughness. In addition to iron, the chemical composition of nodular cast iron is usually: carbon content 3.6~3.8%, silicon content 2.0~3.0%, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur total not more than 1.5% and a moderate amount of rare earth, magnesium and other spheroidizing agents.

Strong corrosion resistance. Water spray corrosion test, 90 days corrosion is only 1/40 of steel pipe, is 1/10 of gray iron pipe. The service life is 2 times that of gray iron pipe and 5 times that of ordinary steel pipe.
Good plasticity. Elongation ≥7%, similar to high carbon steel, and gray iron material elongation is zero.
High strength. Tensile strength OB ≥420MPa, yield strength OS ≥300MPa, and low carbon steel is the same, is three times of gray iron material.
