Gallic acid (also known as 3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoic acid) is an antioxidant and phenolic acid found in most plants in various amounts. Our gallic acid is extracted from gallnut,it also can extracted from Yunnan Pu-erh tea.
Gallic acid (GA) is a component of hydrolyzable tannins, also known as gallic acid, chemical name 3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoic acid. The content of gallic acid in Yunnan Pu-erh tea is relatively high.
On the general level, the content of gallic acid (9.01 mg/g) in Pu-erh tea is higher than that of other Chinese herbal medicines. In this sense, gallic acid is one of the important physiologically active components of Pu-erh tea.
White or light brown needle crystal or powder. Melting point 235-240 ℃ (decomposition). When heated to 100-120 ℃, it loses crystal water, and when heated to above 200 ℃, it loses carbon dioxide and generates pyrogallic acid (ie, pyrogallol). Soluble in hot water, ether, ethanol, acetone and glycerol, insoluble in cold water, insoluble in benzene and chloroform.
