Jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus), also known as breadfruit, is native from India, Bangladesh, Vietnam and Thailand region. It is a spiny fruit with a fibrous texture and, it may not look very tasty but it is rich in potassium, calcium and iron. In addition, a single jackfruit might weight 50 kg and therefore provide a large amount of food. It is a good option for people who decide to substitute meat for plant-based foods, as is the case in the United States.
