Product Description
Force Sensitive Resistor are resistive sensor exhibiting vary resistance that responds to force applied to the sensing area. Asforce on the sensor is increased, resistance is decreased.
For the single-zone sensors, as the sensor is a Two-terminal device that can essentially be treated as a variable resistor whose value is controlled by applied force, and also a switch whose threshold is controlled by applied force and setting up.
The sensors are made up of robust polyester film, high-conductive material and Nano-sized force sensing material. The top layer of the sensor consists of the area of force sensitive layer on a flexible film. And bottom layer is comprised of conductive circuit traces on a flexible film. And the above two layers are s are stick together by spacer adhesive and active area is without adhesive. When the active area is applied force, the lines disconnected from each other in the bottom layer will pass through the pressure sensitive layer in the top layer, and the resistance output value changes with the pressure.

Application Circuit
1.Voltage Divider
The sensor is placed in series with a fixed resistor (R0), and output voltage is measured across R0. It is given by Vout=Vcc*R0/(R0+Rs).
How to define the fixed resistor value, Basically, R0 is 1/3 to 1/2 of the resistance range of Rs. What’s more, if R0 is appropriate, you can get a near-linear curve of Force vs Vout in a special force range. Depending on the impedance requirements of the measuring circuit, the voltage divider could be followed by an op-amp.




2.Force Threshold Switch




This is an ideal circuit for applications that require on-off switching at a specified force. It consists a Wheatstone bridge circuit and a voltage comparator.
When apply force and Rs becomes to be lower than R1, lead U1+ to be higher than U1-, and Vout becomes to be high. This high level signal can used to be trigger signal of following devices, for example, it can trigger a relay, and then control LEDs, buzzer warning, motor and other load devices.

1.Can thin-film resistance pressure sensors measure accurately?
Thin-film resistance pressure sensors cannot be accurately measured and can qualitatively analyze the trend of pressure changes or the relative magnitude of the test pressure.
2.Can the sensor be folded and bent?
Although the sensor is flexible, folding the pressure-sensitive active area may cause the conductor to break, and it isrecommended not to bend more than 90°.
3.Is the sensor resistant to high temperatures?
Operating temperature range -40°C~+85°C
4.How do flexible sensors feedback pressure? Is the resistance constant, or is it decreasing by a constant value?
Flexible pressure sensors are resistive: the greater the force, the smaller the resistance.
5.Is the sensor waterproof?
The flexible pressure sensor material is not recommended to be in direct contact with the liquid, and the sensor needs to be waterproof.
6.What surface is best for the sensor to place?
Flat and smooth surfaces are optimal, where moist gases or dirt particles can cause false triggering of the sensor.
7.Will the sensor be damaged if it exceeds the range?
Exceeding the range will not damage the sensor, and the sensor can continue to work normally after the range returns to normal.
