Calcium sulfate whisker has high strength, high modulus, high toughness, high insulation, abrasion resistance, high temperature resistance, acid and alkali resistance, corrosion resistance, infrared reflectivity, easy surface treatment, easy to compound with polymer, non-toxic and many other excellent physical and chemical properties.
Product Usage
Calcium sulfate whisker combines the advantages of reinforcing fiber and ultrafine inorganic filler and can be used as reinforcing and toughening agent or functional filler in resin, plastic, rubber, coating, paint, papermaking, asphalt, friction and sealing materials. It can also be directly used as filter material, thermal insulation material, refractory heat insulation material, infrared reflection material and high insulation material covering wire.
Calcium sulfate whisker is a fibrous single crystal of calcium sulfate synthesized from gypsum by special process and formula. It has uniform cross section, complete shape and highly perfect internal structure, is a kind of non-metallic material with many special properties.
Calcium sulfate whisker applied to polymer materials can not only strengthen and toughen, but also play the role of thickening, heat, wear and oil resistance. The preparation of epoxy resin adhesive using calcium sulfate whisker as filler was studied in laboratory. The effects of calcium sulfate whiskers on the strength, toughness, heat resistance and thixotropy of epoxy adhesive were investigated. The results show that compared with the usual fillers, the epoxy adhesive prepared with calcium sulfate whisker has not only the characteristics of strengthening, toughening, thickening, heat resistance, wear resistance, oil resistance and thixotropy, but also the comprehensive cost of preparing the adhesive does not increase. It can be said that the application of calcium sulfate whisker in adhesives has a very wide prospect.
