Product Description
Dimethyl sulfate is an organic compound with the structural formula of (CH3O) 2so2. It is a colorless or yellowish oily flammable liquid with a slight smell of onion. It is slightly soluble in water at low temperature, easily soluble in water at normal temperature, and easily soluble in organic solvents such as ether, ethanol and chloroform. It decomposes slowly in cold water and accelerates with the rise of temperature. At 50 ℃, it forms an undivided dimethyl sulfate mist, which is very easy to hydrolyze into sulfuric acid and methanol, and decomposes completely at 188 ℃. It belongs to highly toxic category. It has strong irritation and corrosiveness, and has delayed biological effects. Flammable in case of heat, open fire or oxidant. It is often used as a methylation reagent. Dimethyl sulfate is a reagent that can methylate DNA. After methylation, DNA can be degraded at the methylation site [1]. Anhydrous methanol is added to chlorosulfonic acid or fuming sulfuric acid cooled to - 10 ℃ and distilled under reduced pressure [2]. It is widely used in pesticide manufacturing, organic chemical raw material manufacturing, dye manufacturing, catalyst and auxiliary manufacturing, plastic manufacturing, daily chemical product manufacturing, pharmaceutical industry and so on
