Working Principle






The principle of MBBR process is to use the basic principle of biofilm method, by adding a certain number of suspended carriers to the reactor to improve the biomass and biological species in the reactor, so as to improve the treatment efficiency of the reactor. Because the density of the filler is close to that of water, it is completely mixed with water during aeration, and the growth environment of microorganisms is gas, liquid and solid.
The collision and shearing of the carrier in water make the air bubbles smaller and increase the utilization rate of oxygen. In addition, there are different biological species inside and outside each carrier, with some anaerobes or facultative bacteria growing inside and aerobic bacteria on the outside, so that each carrier is a micro-reactor, so that nitrification and denitrification exist at the same time. As a result, the treatment effect is improved.

Influence of Dissolved Oxygen (DO) on MBBR Method
1.The importance of DO for MBBR process
Theoretically speaking, when the DO mass concentration is too high, DO can penetrate into the biofilm, making it difficult to form anoxic zone inside, and a large amount of ammonia nitrogen is oxidized into nitrate and nitrite, making the TN of the effluent still high ; MBBR The nitrification effect of the process decreases, which increases the ammonia nitrogen concentration in the effluent, which causes the TN of the effluent to rise, which affects the final treatment effect

2.An optimal value of DO for MBBR treatment of municipal sewage
1).When the mass concentration of DO is above 2mg/L, DO has little effect on the nitrification effect of MBBR, the removal rate of ammonia nitrogen can reach 97%-99%, and the ammonia nitrogen in the effluent can be kept below 1.0mg/L

The working principle of anaerobic biological filter

4. Denitrification
The denitrifying bacteria that return the effluent from the contact oxidation bed to the anaerobic microorganisms in the anaerobic filter can use the nitrate nitrogen in the return water and convert it into nitrogen to remove nitrogen in the sewage. After the rural sewage is treated by the anaerobic filter, the concentration of suspended solids, organic pollutants and nitrogen is reduced, and the subsequent load of contacting the oxidation bed is also reduced.
