Hard Water

Wells, rivers, lakes and oceans all have different types and levels of contaminants. These contaminants, other than living organisms or turbidity are in the form of dissolved solids. The total dissolved solids are all the salts or minerals contained in the water source. These salts and minerals can be broken down into ions. The positively charged ions are called Cations and the negatively charged ions are called Anions. The hardness ions are primarily calcium, magnesium and iron which are Cations. The hardness in water causes scale to form inside pots and pans, pipes, water heaters or boilers.

Commercial and industrial applications demanding continuous soft water supply. All systems are twin-alternating configurations with one tank in regeneration or stand-by at all times.

Individual tank capacity ranges from 15,000 grain to 450,000 grain with continuous flow rates of 1-45 GPM.

What do water softeners do?

Industrial water softeners are specific ion exchangers that are designed to remove ions which are positively charged.
Softeners mainly remove calcium (Ca2+) and magnesium (Mg2+) ions. Calcium and magnesium are often referred to
as “hardness minerals”. Softeners are sometimes even applied to remove iron.

The softening devices are able to remove up to five milligrams per liter (5 mg/L) of dissolved iron and can operate
automatic, semi-automatic, or manual. Each type is rated on the amount of hardness it can remove before regeneration is necessary. Commercial water softeners collect hardness minerals within its conditioning tank and from time to time flushes them away to drain.

When an ion exchanger is applied for water softening, it will replace the calcium and magnesium ions in the water with other ions, for instance sodium or potassium. The exchanger ions are added to the ion exchanger reservoir as sodium
and potassium salts (NaCl and KCl).

(2) the pharmaceutical industry: water infusion, injection, tablet, biochemical products, cleaning equipment etc.;
(3) industrial process water: chemical recycling water, chemical products manufacturing, etc.;
(4) the electric power industry boiler water supply: high pressure boiler power system of power boiler, factories and mines;
(5) water for food industry: drinking water for drinking water, beverage, beer, liquor, health care products, etc.;
(6) sea water, brackish water desalination: Island, ship, offshore drilling platform, brackish water area;
(7) drinking water, bottled water, mineral water, drinking water, drinking water school district;
(8) water, other papermaking, electroplating, printing and dyeing process of automobile and home appliance coating, coated glass, cosmetics, fine chemicals etc..
